The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has succeeded in finding a large number of important pieces of evidence related to the ongoing investigations into the suspicious death of Mr. Kapila Chandrasena, former CEO of SriLankan Airlines. During a search of an apartment registered under the name of the deceased's wife, located in the Hyde Park area of Colombo, two laptop computers and a large number of files were taken into police custody.

The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) informed Fort Magistrate Mr. Pasan Amarasekara yesterday about the findings related to this discovery.

Mr. Kapila Chandrasena's body was found hanging in a room at the residence of veteran cricketer Mr. Aravinda de Silva, located on Pedris Road, Kollupitiya, and the police presented this information when the magisterial inquiry into the death was convened. According to a search warrant obtained from the court, this housing complex was inspected on the 12th, and the keys to the relevant house were found in the possession of a domestic worker at the deceased's residence. Officials from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) stated in court that these computers and files were found during the inspection of the house using those keys, and further investigations into the matter have been initiated.

Responding to a question raised by the Magistrate during the hearing, Chief Police Inspector Aruna Krishantha stated that although the CCTV cameras installed at the house where the death occurred showed visuals, no data had been recorded on them. However, upon inspecting the security camera systems of other houses located around that residence, investigating officers were able to find data recorded on the relevant day regarding the entry point of Mr. Aravinda de Silva's house. Investigation teams are currently working to obtain information about individuals entering and exiting the relevant location through those visuals.

In addition, several types of medicines found at the place where the deceased was staying were also presented to the court as case exhibits. The Magistrate granted permission for the police's request to send these medicines to the Government Analyst for a scientific report. Considering the facts presented, Magistrate Mr. Pasan Amarasekara ordered the police to report the current progress of the investigations related to the incident to the court on a future date.
