A lot of information has been revealed during the investigations into the body of a young woman found on the 17th near the Teldeniya Hospital in Kandy, inside a parked car. Police sources state that it was her boyfriend who first informed the police by making a phone call, stating that there was a woman's body inside the car.
The young woman who tragically lost her life in this manner has been identified as 33-year-old P.R. Shyama Darshani, a resident of Weligama, who worked as a physiotherapist at Ampara Hospital. Police suspect that she had been staying with her boyfriend, 35-year-old T.M.S. Dineth Dissanayake, a resident of Kannoruwa, at a private tourist hotel in the Nuwara Eliya area from June 3rd to 16th.
Upon examining the CCTV footage from the hotel where the couple stayed, it was recorded in the data system that the suspect boyfriend carried the woman, covering her face, with great difficulty. Police strongly suspect that after an argument between them escalated, the woman was murdered, her body was taken out of the hotel, placed in a car, brought, and then left near the Teldeniya Hospital in this manner.
Following the magisterial inquiry, the body of the deceased physiotherapist has been placed in the mortuary of Teldeniya Hospital for a post-mortem examination. A comprehensive investigation is underway, led by a senior officer of the Nuwara Eliya Police, based on information obtained from the Teldeniya Police, to definitively determine whether this incident was a premeditated murder or a death that occurred due to another reason.
