According to reports former municipal council member of the Colombo Municipality Mr.Azath Sally was released on instructions of the Attorney General. Azath Sally was under the custody of the CID for over a week and was expected to be detained for another 3 months under detection orders. Mr.Sally who was in a sick condition has been transferred to a private hospital from the Colombo National Hospital by now. It is reported that the letter addressed to the Hon.President by Mr.Sally's daughter Amina Sally requesting that her father's life be saved had paid dividends and has resulted in his release.It is said that Azath Sally was arrested for purposes of being questioned over an anti-government he had expressed in India.
