Possible Tsunami threat to Sri Lanka will be known after 7.00 p.m

According to the news we are receiving from the Meteorological Department there isn’t a Tsunami threat to Sri Lanka. Yet the department requests the public to stay alert till 7 P.M

 Kirinda story is a lie
Sri Lanka coastal preservation authority states that the story about the Kirinda is a lie. There was a rumour that the water level went down in the sea around Kirinda. The first to state this story to the media was the Minister of Fisheries.
Boats in Tangalle harbour have been floated away in the water
 Rupavahini reporter Palitha Kulasiri stated that the boats in the Tangalle harbour floated away due to the unusual waves from the sea and thus the people have been found not at ease.

UPDATES 5.35P.M
MINISTER OF FISHERIES SAYS THAT THE KIRINDA SEA HAVE GONE BACKWARDS
The Minister of Fisheries, Rajitha Senaratne had stated that the water in the sea around Kirinda have been reduced and the sea has gone backwards. He also had stated that he has taken security action against the prevailing situation.

UPDATE 4.36 P.M
ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE IN SUMATHRA
It was reported that another earthquake in Sumatra took place about few minutes ago around 4. 13  P.M. As reported by the Director of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau the earthquake had been reported with a magnitude of 8.6.Mwp. He also had stated that it was an aftershock and that many quakes could be reported along with this.

UPDATE 4.20 P.M
Two hours have passed, yet no Tsunami threat reported.
According to the latest report of the Pacific Tsunami Center, the earthquake has not been able to result in a Tsunami yet. A change of the waves or the level of the sea water had not been reported yet.
Roads are blocked
It is reported that many main roads in Colombo for this panis situation created and the surrounding places around have been blocked.
Busses have been stopped and no traffic in hi-way
Private bus service in the coastal areas had been advised to be temporally suspended. Instead all the vehicles have been allowed to use the Southern Highway without charging of any fee.

UPDATE 3.40 P.M
The electricity supply in the coastal arears interrupted for three hours:
The Electricity board announces that they have taken action to interrupt the supply of electricity supply in the coastal areas for the safety sake of the public in case of an eventuality.

UPDATE 3.20 P.M
Train services along the coastal belt had been temporary suspended.
It is reported that the train service had been temporarily suspended since there was a possibility of a Tsunami threat.
It is reported that many who have made plans to return home from Colombo would have to face a severe inconvenience.
It was reported that the employees were advised to leave the offices after the earthquake.

Residents in the coastal areas have faced discomfort:
It is reported that the people living in the coastal areas have been frightened of an impending Tsunami threat. Many have left their homes for safety.
None of the officials from the Meteorological Department have been able to state whether it is really a Tsunami or not. If it is Tsunami, it will hit:
Trincomalee at 4 P.M,
Colombo at 4.50 P.M
Jaffna by  6.00 P.M.

Magnitude 8.7 Mwp and not 8.9Mwp
If a Tsunami is to hit Sri Lanka, it would be by 4 P.M
Indonesia has been warned 
Indonesia has been warned of a Tsunami threat. An earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0- 8.9 Mwp has been reported from 33m. under the earth.


An earthquake in Sumatra with a magnitude of 8.9 Mwp:
Colombo too had felt the earthquake 
An earthquake had taken place at Sumathra with a magnitude of 8.9.Mwp. How it will affect Sri Lanka is questionable?. Many buildings in the island have felt the tremors from the earthquake. It is reported that the tremors were felt around 2.15P.M. As it is reported many cities including Matara, Bambaalpitiya, Akuressa, Ganemulla Deraniyagala, Diyatalawa, had felt the earthquake in Sri Lanka.
