After the warning of a possible Tsunami strike was announced many people living in the coastal belt in the south in particular left their homes to safety areas as advised.
People had run away leaving their belongings and clothes with the intention of saving their lives in the case of an eventuality. They took shelter mainly at temples. Amongst them were tourists as well. Most of the roads were deserted.
