‘TELE OIC’ TRANSFERED TO BATTICALOA

OIC Jayasinghe who recently trapped a Tele Actress prostitute suddenly transferred to Batticaloa:

It was known to many and stories spread widely that a Tel drama actress engaged in prostitution was arrested and produced to courts. It was made by the Mirihana Police Division’s Emergency Police unit led by Inspector Bathiya Jayasinghe. The Inspectors sudden transfer to Batticaloa is very puzzling as there are a number of cases pending in courts where he is supposed to give evidence.
The reason is not properly known. It is suspected that it may have been for apprehending a Tele drama actress indulged in prostitution having high contacts.
It is very puzzling a such an efficient Police Inspector who had helped to apprehend suspects in the caliber of Sakvithi Jayasinghe and his wife and also helped to apprehend several suspects including famous criminals.
What is stated below is some parts of an article which appeared in the ‘chain’ section of the tabloid edition of a very reason Dinamina newspaper. According to the article there in some undisclosed secret behind his transfer.It is also learnt that the reason may be that he had made valiant attempts to curb a ‘Brothel’ business which was in progress between Maldives and Sri Lanka. It is learnt that the plans of the activities and its functioning were in his possession. It was known to all those actresses in the Tele dram field the name Inspector Bathiya Jayasinghe was very famous. They were all afraid of him. The Tele actresses only earn a meager sum from acting. Hence they were involved in prostitution to make a living. They even refrained from this business as the Inspector Bathiya was always following information about them to apprehend them. The Police inspector Bathiya Jayasinghe had raided a number of ‘brothel’ houses in the recent past, and produced those accused to courts.
The Nugegoda Division Superintendent of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon’s decision to transfer Bathiya Jayasinghe surprised many. It was a real surprise especially as Bathiya Jayasinghe was the head of the Mirihana police Emergency Police Unit for a long period of time from the year 2007.He had been in the helm of detecting theft of many vehicles, robberies at super markets and brothel houses, stealing cases, customs frauds, possessing of illegal arms etc. He had been instrumental during this period collecting fines to the tune of over Rs 50 lakhs.

Bathiya had raided 34 brothel houses and apprehended 67 prostitutes who could not be trapped by his subordinates. He of course had got tips via anonymous telephone calls for assistance. After his transfer there is a faction who is requesting his transfer to be cancelled.
