SRI LANKA BY OPPOSING TO “WORLD WILD LIFE ORGANISATION’S VERDICT” –GIFTS “MALI” FEMALE ELEPHANT TO THE PHILIPPINE GOVENRNMENT

In contrary to World Wild Life Organisation’s advice “Mali”, the female elephant gifted to Philippine

It was only the day before yesterday to commemorate 50 years of cordial relationship Sri Lanka has had with the Government of Philippines, the 37 year old female elephant ‘Mali’ was gifted to Philippine government against the laws and instructions of the World’s Wild life Organisation.
This elephant had been gifted without any knowledge of ‘cruelty to animals’ reported at the Zoological gardens in Manila, Philippines.
A few months back when the news of gifting ’Mali’ to Philippine was announced and made public several wild life organisations in Sri Lanka protested to it. The main protest was made by PETA; a renowned International Wild Life Protection Society .The American Institution –PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS, an Asian branch of famous American wild Animals Association had categorically disclosed clearly that the Manila Zoological Gardens in Philippines is not at all a conducive and an environmental place for elephants. It is also reliably learnt that Manila Zoological gardens is not at all a suitable place for Asian elephants. The related authorities over there will not be able to provide the necessary comforts for ‘Mali’ our female elephant. As this elephant has to live her whole life time in that Manila Zoological gardens it should not be fair by the elephant that it is without at least the basic comforts needed. As it was proposed earlier ‘Mali’ was sent to Manila Zoological Gardens in the Philippines.
The photograph’s below show how ‘Mali’ is spending her time in the Manila Zoological gardens.
