HOW COME THAT A STUDENT IN 4th PLACE HAS HIGHER MARKS THAN THE STUDENT IN 2nd PLACE IN GRADE 5 SCHOLARSHIP EXAM –GALLE?

Student placed 4th with 190 marks while Student with 188 marks placed 2nd.

It is reported from two schools in Galle District that owing to a computerisation mistake made in the Grade 5 scholarship examination a student S.H. Kanishka Lakshan from Karandeniya, Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya had obtained 188 marks and had been placed 2nd in the Galle District. However a student from Elpitiya Ganegoda Maha Vidyalaya, N.H.Anjula Himashi having obtained two marks more i.e 190 marks had been placed 4th in Galle District.
According to the Commissioner General of examinations Anura Edirisinghe this mistake has happened between Galle and Matara Districts while computerisation. The student from Karandeniya, Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya has been classified as a student from Matara District.
This mistake would be soon rectified according to the Commissioner General of Examinations who had promised that the correct results sheets would be sent to the respective schools very soon.
