RANJAN’S KANDY GIRL REMANDED

Ranjan’s Kandy Girl remanded for producing fabricated documents

The teacher from Kandy area who pretended to be the fiancé’ of the popular actor Ranjan Ramanayake was remanded on the orders of the Additional Magistrate, kandy for misleading the courts by producing fictitious documents with regard to her Birth Certificates. She had produced a Certificate of Birth stating that she was born in the year 1968, when the case was heard yesterday.
It was proved beyond doubt that she had produced bogus certificates. She was not allowed bail and was remanded till the 5th of October on the orders of the Additional Magistrate, Kandy, Saliya Abeyratna.
She has had in her possession two National Identity Cards, which the Police had brought to the notice of the Courts for accusing her of this offence. According to one NIC she was born in the year 1958 and in another in the year 1968. However according to Police investigations her correct age is either she is 56 years old or she is 53 years old. However, she had worked as a school teacher as a 43 year old person. If her age was 56 years, then she had worked beyond her retirement age and had worked on the pretext of false documents.
Although her name appeared as Namal Wijeratna in her NIC her correct name is Udyani Shyamali Asokamala. Another offence that she is guilty of is that she had appeared in courts using a fictitious name. She had disclosed that she was a ‘spinster’ although she is a married woman. Once the Police were able to capture all her fictitious documents she was absconding, in giving statements.
However while she was teaching in her school, the Police with a special court order had produced her to courts, before the Additional Magistrate, kandy. This teacher had earlier told that ‘Actor’ Ranjan Ramanayake was her boy friend and as he had consented to marry she had given him a sum of Rs 10 lakhs.The teacher had filed a case in Kandy courts in this regard just prior to the last General Elections. While the case was proceeding Ranjan Ramanayake had filed a case against the teacher suing her for a sum of Rs 500 million for bringing disrepute to his prestigious name.
Namal Wijeratna / Udyani Shyamali Asokamala is one and the same person was produced before courts when both these cases were not completed for having produced fictitious documents. The teacher is at a distinct disadvantage for the other two cases as she had already proved to have produced fictitious documents.
