Due to the heavy rainfall in the Nuwara Eliya district and the associated disaster situations, six people have gone missing, and more than 2,331 people across the district have been affected.
Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Ms. Thushari Tennakoon confirms that 2,331 people belonging to 581 families have been affected due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions. Among the affected, 1,734 people have currently been safely accommodated in seven established welfare centers.
The District Secretary further stated that two of the missing persons are believed to have been swept away by floods, while the other four went missing due to a landslide. Additionally, three more people have been injured due to these weather-related disasters.
