Ranthathige Nishanka Priyadarshana, also known as "Dubai Sudda," who was remanded in connection with a case of defrauding money by promising foreign jobs in Dubai and Moldova to Sri Lankans using tourist visas, has pleaded guilty to the charges against him in court. The suspect pleaded guilty when the case was called on June 16th. This suspect is also a member of the Bulathsinhala Pradeshiya Sabha, representing the United National Party.
The main charges against him were failing to provide a promised job in Dubai after taking 700,000 rupees from a person in the Kuliyapitiya area, and not possessing a valid license from the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment for providing foreign jobs. Accordingly, the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate ordered the deposit of the relevant 700,000 rupees in court on behalf of the defrauded and aggrieved party.
The court decided to postpone the re-calling of this case until August 25, 2026, while another similar case against the same individual is scheduled to be called at the Welisara court on June 26. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Foreign Employment urges the public to immediately report any other individuals who have fallen victim to similar foreign employment scams carried out by this suspect to the Special Investigations Unit of the Bureau.
