A 31-year-old Lebanese woman died after a small paramotor aircraft, used for aerial sightseeing in the Bentota tourist zone, crashed into the sea. Bentota Police state that this unfortunate accident occurred yesterday (29) around 4:00 PM in the sea area approximately 600 meters off the Bentota coastline.

At the time of the accident, the Colombian pilot, Manil Ibrahim, who was operating the aircraft, immediately jumped into the sea and swam towards the shore, saving his life. It is currently suspected that the cause of this crash was a technical fault in the aircraft.

The body of the foreign woman, who had been missing after the incident, was found approximately an hour and a half later. A group of fishermen from the Beruwala Maradana area went out to sea in small boats and located the body, which was then brought to the Beruwala Maradana fishing harbor.

The recovered body of the woman has been placed at the Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital, and the Colombian pilot who survived the accident has also been admitted to the same hospital and is receiving treatment. Further investigations into the crash of this aircraft, which belongs to a tourist service provider located in the Aluthgama area, are being conducted under the direction of Bentota Police Station OIC, Mr. Ajantha Pushpakumara.
