A 35-year-old Russian national, who was staying in a rented house in the Aluthgama, Moragalla tourist zone and engaged in earning money online, has been arrested by the Aluthgama Police. It has been revealed that he had been staying illegally in the country for about seven years without any legal visa.




During this raid conducted on the 23rd, 5 grams and 200 milligrams of cannabis were also taken into police custody from the suspect foreign national. Upon examining his passport, it was revealed that he arrived in Sri Lanka in 2019 and has been staying without a visa for a long period since then.

Aluthgama Police Station OIC, Chief Police Inspector Sampath Sanjeewa stated that the suspect's statement mentioned he was involved in earning money online. In addition to this, during the raid, a smartphone and two laptop computers used by the suspect Russian national were also taken into police custody.




The arrested foreign national was scheduled to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate's Court on the 24th.
