A highly controversial and regrettable situation has arisen across the entire country regarding the mysterious and suspicious death of a young female physiotherapist, who was employed at Ampara General Hospital, at a lodge located in the Nuwara Eliya area. Investigating officers, who suspected from initial examinations that the young woman's death was not a natural one, now strongly suspect, with substantial evidence, that it was a brutal murder committed by strangulation by an individual.
The individual who posed as her boyfriend, and is directly suspected of committing this heinous crime, has fled the area and is in hiding. The Police Department is currently seeking direct public assistance to swiftly locate and apprehend him. Although police teams have so far been unable to bring him to justice due to his extremely cunning disappearance from the area, investigating officers have already succeeded in uncovering many of his fraudulent activities and true details. The young woman who was mysteriously and tragically murdered is Shamya Darshani, a 34-year-old unmarried physiotherapist who worked at Ampara General Hospital. Her sudden and untimely death has caused deep shock and sorrow among her colleagues in her professional field as well as the entire society. Meanwhile, the final rites for the deceased physiotherapist were performed in a very sorrowful manner at the family's common cemetery in Weligama, amidst the grief of a large number of relatives, friends, and residents. A large crowd gathered to pay their last respects to the body during the funeral, and tears streamed from everyone's eyes, expressing profound pain over the injustice she suffered.
According to preliminary investigations conducted by police officers, it has been clearly revealed that the suspected boyfriend visited the apartment where the young woman was staying on the 16th. Investigating officers state that CCTV camera footage installed in the housing complex clearly shows the suspect carrying the young woman, who had collapsed unconscious for some reason, during the afternoon of that day. It is also revealed that shortly before this unfortunate incident, the deceased young woman had called her elder brother, informing him that she was severely ill. She called her brother around 3:30 PM that day and said, "Lokkayiye, I'm not well, please come," before disconnecting the call. Subsequently, her elder brother, who became extremely agitated and fearful, made over 100 continuous phone calls to inquire about her well-being and to contact her, but received no response from her side. Finally, he expressed with great sorrow to the media that he was unable to see his beloved sister alive, and that by the time he arrived, she had already passed away.
During the extensive investigations into the mysterious death of the physiotherapist, the police have succeeded in uncovering a wealth of information revealing that the suspected boyfriend is an extremely cunning and dangerous individual who fraudulently deceives women. Although this person appeared before the deceased young woman under the very false and appealing name 'Dineth Dissanayake,' the deep searches and investigations conducted by the police have fully revealed his true identity. According to the suspect's national identity card and official documents, his real name is Jayasundara Mudiyanselage Champika Shriyan Jayasundara, and police official reports clearly state that he is a permanent resident of the Narammala area.
Investigating officers indicate that the suspect used various subtle tactics and disguises to conceal his true appearance and identity in society and among young women. He always wore a wig, completely altering his real physical appearance, and moved around in society. Investigation teams suspect that he introduced himself as a software engineer in a high-ranking job to attract young women very effectively. Investigating officers are highly skeptical whether he is truly engaged in such a profession in the software field, and investigators strongly believe that he might have used this false professional title and disguise to deceive educated young women and gain their trust. It has also been further revealed during investigations that through these indecent tactics, he maintained close romantic relationships with several young women in various areas simultaneously.
Police reports confirm that this fraudulent individual has been involved in a racket for a long time, using various tactics to deceitfully trick women and obtain large financial gains and money from them. It has been revealed that several cases against him for fraudulently obtaining money by deceiving various young women and women are currently being heard in several major courts across the country. Accordingly, it is reported that serious cases against him are pending in the Magistrate's Courts of Gampaha, Aluthkade, Tissamaharama, and Padukka. Furthermore, police investigations have officially confirmed that several complaints have also been received against him by the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the fraudulent acquisition of money and various properties by deceiving women.
With the revelation that this heinous criminal and large-scale fraudster is a 43-year-old father of three children, the social gravity and repulsive nature of this entire incident have further escalated. The most regrettable and surprising aspect here is the strong suspicion expressed by the police that the suspect's legal wife has also directly and indirectly aided and abetted these large-scale frauds and criminal acts, which the suspect has been committing for a long time, deceiving society. Police teams have now launched a separate, extensive investigation into the wife's involvement in the suspect's fraudulent activities and this serious murder incident that ultimately occurred, as well as the assistance she provided.
The Nuwara Eliya Police have officially reported the facts regarding the mysterious death and murder of the deceased physiotherapist to the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate's Court. Senior Superintendent of Police Samarakoon Banda, in charge of the Nuwara Eliya Division, stated before the court that an extensive investigation is continuously underway, systematically examining all CCTV camera footage installed in and around the apartment where the young woman was staying, using scientific and technical methods. The court has also ordered an immediate travel ban against the suspect, as per the police request, to prevent him from evading justice by leaving the country or fleeing.
To swiftly bring this dangerous suspect, who has currently fled the area and is cunningly hiding, to justice, three special police teams comprising skilled officers are continuously conducting extensive operations and investigations across several different areas, under the direct supervision, direction, and special guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Samarakoon Banda, in charge of the Nuwara Eliya Division. The Police Department strongly emphasizes that the free movement of such cunning, fraudulent, and heinous individuals in society poses a serious threat to all women. Therefore, the public should be more vigilant, cautious, and protective of their daughters, sisters, relatives, and friends than ever before. Furthermore, Police Headquarters respectfully and kindly requests the entire public to immediately inform the nearest police station if they have any information, suspicious behavior, or clues regarding the suspect that match the information and images publicized by the media.
