Chairman of Lanka Salt Company arrested

Mr. R.M. Gunaratne, the current General Manager of Lanka Salt Company, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

This is based on the accusation of causing a loss of nearly 14.3 million rupees to the government and providing undue advantage to the supplier company, by obtaining 'Lak Salt' packages for the Hambantota Salt Company through a re-order without following a proper procurement process.
