This unique achievement has been made by Ms. Bhagya Solanga Arachchi, who is 23 years old, and she makes history as the first Sri Lankan woman to be appointed to such a high-responsibility position in the Italian police service.

Her parents, Mr. Henry Solangaarachchi and her mother, who resided on St. Anne's Road, Wennappuwa, migrated to Italy for employment in 1982, and currently live in Milan with their daughter. Ms. Bhagya, who holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from an Italian university, is also known as a fluent speaker with excellent ability to handle several other languages in addition to Sinhala, English, and Italian.

Italian media further reports that she, having applied for a high-ranking position in the Italian police as a graduate, successfully passed a series of highly competitive examinations and intelligence tests with the highest marks. Due to the exceptional skills and dedication she demonstrated during her training as a police officer, authorities have taken steps to appoint her as a station commander in the Carabinieri police force at the end of her training.

In addition to regular police training, she is a physically strong young woman who has successfully completed extremely difficult military training, and according to Italian media reports, she is about six feet tall. A Sri Lankan young woman holding such a high position in a powerful security force in a foreign country has been highly appreciated by the Sri Lankan community residing there.
