Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasizes that any diplomatic discussion held with international powers is by no means a 'surrender'. He states that these discussions are held from a strong position, ensuring Iran's sovereignty and national rights, and that his administration is not prepared to bow down to enemies under any circumstances.
According to the President, the primary objective of such discussions is to ensure the security and prosperity of the country's people, not to display weakness. This stance is announced against the backdrop of Iran presenting a new 14-point plan in response to proposals made by the United States to de-escalate regional tensions. This proposal, conveyed to the US via Islamabad, consists of three phases, with the first phase suggesting a 30-day temporary ceasefire. This is presented as a counter-proposal to the US's previously submitted 9-point plan, and Iran's ultimate goal is to completely end the military situation in the region.
A notable aspect of this new draft presented by Iran is that it imposes several strict conditions on the United States. Key among these are the lifting of sanctions against Iran, the cessation of blockades imposed on Iranian ports, and the withdrawal of American forces from the region. Iran also demands that Israel cease all military activities, including operations in Lebanon. In return, Iran has agreed to revert to the previous status regarding its nuclear program and to provide full opportunities for trade activities in strategic maritime routes.
However, amidst these diplomatic efforts, military tensions continue to rise in regional maritime boundaries. Attacks on cargo ships have been reported, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz and the sea area off the coast of Qatar, and the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament has warned that the 'policy of restraint' hitherto followed by the country has ended. In response to accusations that American fighter jets attacked Iranian vessels, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps has also issued warnings that severe attacks will be launched against American ships or military bases in the future.
