The figure comes after PCR inspections inside the port were abandoned a few months ago in May and resumed last week. Lal Bengamuwa, President of the Independent Port Employees Union, says that he suspects these infections are spreading due to an overdose problem. He said the disease had spread due to overdosing on the second vaccine given to port workers.
