Regarding the mysterious death of Dr. Prabath Dayaratne, a 49-year-old anesthesiologist who served at Badulla Teaching Hospital, his close friend, Dr. Gayan Kure, has revealed a lot of special information to the media. After the doctor's body was found in a thicket near the Viyana Canal on the Badulla-Mahiyangana road, he commented on the deceased doctor's professional and educational background as follows.
Dr. Gayan Kure stated that the late Dr. Prabath Dayaratne was a doctor who studied at Nalanda College, Colombo, and later in the 98/99 batch of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Colombo. He had previously served successfully as an anesthesiologist at Badulla Teaching Hospital for three years, and thereafter, he was transferred to another area.
Dr. Kure further stated that Dr. Dayaratne, who later returned to Badulla Hospital for his second term of service, faced this unfortunate incident while serving there for less than a year during that second service period. Although the doctor's car and some pills were found near the 17th milepost on the Badulla-Mahiyangana road, the exact cause of death has not yet been revealed.
