Veteran actor Jayalal Rohana bids farewell
Veteran actor Jayalal Rohana passed away at the Ragama Hospital this evening (11). It is said that he was treated at the Ragama Hospital due to an emergency condition. Jayalal Rohana, who was 56 years old at the time of his death, had been teaching drama and performing arts to A / L students for a long time, and many of his disciples are now professionals in the relevant field. He was a playwright, writer, makeup artist and radio playwright. Born in 1964, Jayalal Rohana has made his mark in Sri Lankan cinema, stage and television. Jayalal Rohana's father was the treasurer of the Communist Party of Kotte. He was educated at the Ananda College, Jayalal Kotte. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (External) from the University of Peradeniya and later obtained a Masters Degree in Drama and Performing Arts from the University of Kelaniya. Jayalal Rohana, who excelled in drama from an early age, studied drama with two well-known directors of Sinhala drama, Simon Nawagattagama and Sugathapala de Silva.
He also acted in Nawagattagama's plays. He later met Gunasena Galappathi and was selected for the play Muduputtu. In 1982 he was awarded an OCIC Scholarship by Professor Rudy Correns of Belgium, and a. G. Gunawardena and Trilithia Gunawardena had the opportunity to study Western drama. His play 'Loka' won several awards in 1987. He made his television debut in 1986 and has starred in more solo plays. He was best known for his role as "Muthumina" in the much-talked-about Isuru Yoga series on TV. He won the Best Actor award at the Sumathi Awards. He made his film debut in 1995 with the film Ioma, directed by Parakrama Niriella. He then starred in several films such as Loneliness in a Valley, The Scent of Tikiri and The Lion. He is also known as a scholar who regularly appeared on the Doramadalawa TV Education Program.
