A fierce controversial discussion and debate has been created on social media due to the attire worn by Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, at an International Yoga Day celebration held in Mumbai, India. She participated in a large-scale yoga program organized by the 'Divyaj Foundation' at the NSCI Dome complex in Worli.
This year's Yoga Day celebration was organized under the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health".Over a thousand children, including children of deceased farmers and students from BMC schools, participated in the event, along with many distinguished guests and celebrities. Although the primary objective of the program was to promote physical and mental well-being through yoga exercises, social media users' attention quickly turned to Amruta Fadnavis's choice of attire. She attended the yoga session dressed in a bright green, form-fitting jacket and matching tights, an athleisure co-ord set.
As visuals from the event were released online, many began to criticize her attire, with some stating it was "inappropriate" for a public yoga program. Critics pointed out that the outfit was more suitable for a fitness photoshoot than a community yoga event like this, which involved children. However, others defended her, arguing that such athleisure wear is commonly used for yoga and fitness activities worldwide. Her supporters contended that the criticisms were unnecessary and that the entire focus should be on the message of health and well-being conveyed by the event.
Amruta Fadnavis has not yet publicly responded to these criticisms. However, this incident has sparked a widespread online discussion about personal choices, fitness attire, and the intense scrutiny public figures face on social media.
