Veteran photographer Bhumi Wickramasinghe suddenly passed away.

Mr. Bhumi Wikramasinghe, a leading professional photographer in Sri Lanka's wedding and event industry, has passed away due to sudden severe health complications. Based in Colombo and Matara, he was a talented young man highly regarded among Sri Lanka's creative community.

His unfortunate demise due to this sudden severe health crisis has become an irreplaceable loss to the professional photography industry in the country.

In early June, he was admitted to the intensive care unit after suffering a sudden paralytic condition, and his friends and photographers' associations made public appeals on social media wishing him a speedy recovery. Specifically, a public blessing ceremony was organized on June 11th at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya for his recovery, and thousands of people on social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram wished him a quick recovery. However, all efforts by doctors and well-wishers were in vain, and he passed away, with the messages of recovery quickly turning into condolences and tributes.

The arrangements for the final rites of the late Mr. Bhumi Wikramasinghe have now been officially announced. Accordingly, his remains will be placed for public viewing at the Boralesgamuwa Florists Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25th. Subsequently, on Friday, June 26th, and Saturday, June 27th, the body will be kept at his residence in Batugoda Junction, Akuressa. The final rites and religious ceremonies will be held at his residence in Akuressa on Saturday, June 27th.

Bhumi, who showed exceptional talent in wedding, pre-wedding photography, and cinematic visual storytelling, captured Sri Lanka's cultural identities and personal milestones through his camera lens in a very captivating and unique way. His creative contributions were highly appreciated by many through his Instagram account @bhumi_wickramasinghe, as well as on Facebook and TikTok pages. Friends, artists, and clients in the field described him as an extremely talented, kind, and passionate young man who loved his work, was close to many people's lives, and possessed humble qualities, making him an exemplary individual.
