Only eye-test is required for light vehicle drivers ... president informs
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has informed that the eye-test would be sufficient to obtain a light vehicle driving license and thus to limit the full medical test. This was mentioned by president at the discussion held with senior officials of the transport ministry this morning (31) at the president's secretariat. This was decided upon when inquiring into the aspect of checking eyes on hospital level.
A complete eye-test was necessary in the system in operation before driving licenses were issued and
such a process was adopted for that purpose only recently. As this procedure was not in operation in an organised manner, there were complaints that a large number of people had to rustify.
