Leading Australian investors are ready for new investment opportunities in Sri Lanka

During a special round of investment discussions held in Melbourne, Australia, a group of leading entrepreneurs and investors from that country expressed willingness to make Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in several key sectors in Sri Lanka. This series of discussions, organized to further strengthen the national program of attracting foreign investments by empowering the manufacturing economy, was successfully held in Clyde North, Victoria.

The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Sunil Handunnetti, was attended by a state delegation including the Deputy Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB). During these discussions, significant attention was paid to providing sustainable energy solutions through ECOGEN and initiating sustainable recycling processes related to the apparel sector in Sri Lanka through AusLoop Global Solutions.

With the aim of increasing local milk production, attention was also drawn to establishing a large-scale commercial dairy farm with a capacity of 2,000 cows through FRMAFIRST, and introducing a livestock breeding project capable of successfully facing climate change. Additionally, investors expressed willingness to construct a factory for 3D printing technology and manufacturing spare parts using recycled plastic at the Ekala Industrial Estate, which belongs to the Industrial Development Board (IDB).

Furthermore, agreements were reached to implement integrated aquaculture projects, eco-friendly tourist hotel complexes centered in the Marawila area, food processing industries carried out through OSCS Holdings, as well as various investment projects associated with FLEXIMAKE in Sri Lanka. Appreciating the transparency, reliability, and state patronage that have emerged in the country's business environment under the current government, investors fully agreed to take the necessary next steps to promptly commence all these projects.
