Susanthika Jayasinghe hospitalized - Update

Short-distance sprinter Susanthika Jayasinghe who currently is under treatment warded at Gampaha Hospital having been subjected to assault by her husband has siven a statement to the media explaining the incident.

What she says is that in future she would be asking
for a divorce from her husband in the future. Susanthika's husband is still under police custody. What she says, from below:

"I feel embarassed that I have had to talk about what happened. So far I kept things a secret ... I engaged in running with these things in mind. There are mistakes that I also have done. Those may have happened ... I am prepared to face punishment for all that ... for all females in the country to take it as a lesson. At this point what I say is that this mishap will not happen if if the a woman will not such a fate like this if her husband looks after her ... loves his woman and sees to her requirements. So all these ... it's all combined. This is an example for all males. Beyond this from here onwards I can't say whether this is an embarassment, humiliation or crime. Even if I am jailed for 10 years ... it doesn't matter. In future ... I'll be taking all possible action that has to be taken in future. I want to free myself from him".
