Alavi Moulana passes away
The former Governor of the Western Province Alavi Moulana has passed away while been treated at a private hospital today.
At the time of his demise he had been 84 years old.
Alavi Moulana had commenced his political career as a Member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the year 1948 as a trade union leader and had been in the political field since then.
Until his death he had remained with the SLFP and had held the position of senior vice president of the party. During the period of Chandrika Bandaranaike government had held the position of the Minister of Labour and then he was appointed the governor of the western province.
Late Alavi Moulana had been a close associate of the Bandaranaike family and at every instant when there had been conflicts within the party he had made his intervention to resolve them
