Colombo Central, Homagama, Moratuwa and Kaduwela seats to change with new electoral reforms
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has opted for a simple and quick electoral reforms system which
is to be tabled in Parliament next week.
It has been suggested that in existing electorates in Colombo Central, Homagama, Moratuwa and Kaduwela where there are more than one hundred thousand voters to be restricted to fifty thousand voters by breaking the existing demarcations in the electorates accordingly. They also intend to amalgamate those electorates with less than fifty thousand voters accordingly.
In Jaffna they have identified five such electorates it is learnt reliably. It is also decided to make the extent of an electorate to limit to 100 square kilometres per electorate. In this regard Anuradhapura East, Ampara, Tissamaharama and others have been distinctly identified.
It is also proposed to identify electorates with two seats and in reducing in that manner the number of seats are to be reduced from 160 to 150 seats.
