South Africa in previous world cup encounters have never won a crunch knock out quarter final match, believes in breaking that 'hoodoo'.

In the 11th edition of the ICC world cup 2015
hosted jointly by Australia and New Zealand, the first Quarter final match in phase 2 after completion of the preliminary stage phase 1 between Sri Lanka and South Africa is to be played today as  a d/n encounter the Sidney cricket ground in Australia commencing at 2.30 pm their time.

This match is commonly know an the knock out /exit  crunch game for both teams as no matter however well they had performed in the league stage in preliminary qualifying matches, the team losing will have to exit and bid 'Adieu'  and exit and would have to  pack up and go home forgetting all  wishful world cup dreams.

The cricketing pundits, critics and observers have disclosed that team South Africa had never proceeded beyond the quarter final stage in any previous world cups having participated in the first world cup in the 5th edition in 1992.In the 1992 world cup edition they had been knocked out in the quarter final stage to England, in the year 1996 to West Indies, in the year 2003 in the first round itself to Sri Lanka and in the last world cup in the year 2011 to team New Zealand also in the quarter final stage.Hence all critics, observers and journalists had quipped whether South Africa could break this 'hoodoo' or the 'folk magic' on the 18th against Sri Lanka at the SCG.

However contrary to all the past records and speculaions the South African captain A.B.De Villiers had quipped that the past defeats  would be forgotten and that 'hoodoo' would be broken and that 'hoodoo' would not be a criteria to go beyond the quarter finals in this edition of the world cup.
