Roshan Ranawana's 'Akka' -mother story

Mishap that Roshan Ranawana faced in childhood ....for having addressed mother as 'Akka'

Artiste Roshan Ranawana has faced many mishaps in his childhood for having addressed his mother as 'Amitha akka'.

He spoke about this by joining in with a certain radio channel recently. It is as follows: "During my small days I called my mother .... 'Akka'. Later I called mother ... 'Mamma' and father 'dadda'. From that day I call grandmother as mother and grandfather as .... 'thaththa'. During my schooldays this got mixed up one day.

The eldest in my mother's family is mother. Mother has 4 younger brothers. They called my mother as 'Akka'. Therefore, in my small days, I also called mother .... 'Akka'. From those days itself I called aachchi .... mother.

When I was small, one elder sister of my  father was abroad. When having gone to visit them, mother had brought and given me some clothes. At that time I was attending the Montessori. One day the Montessori teacher had asked mother when she went there, as to who Roshan's sister is ... that he always speaks about clothes that an elder sister gives him.

That time my mother rectified the mistake and had said that it is because he calls her (mother) 'Akka' that he had done so and that it was she (mother) who brings those clothes and gives him.

Another incident happened. There was a concert in school when I was 6 years old. At the place where two hundred or three hundred children were dressed up, the teacher asked us to point at our 'Amma" who had come there. So because I don't call my mother 'Amma' I didn't point at my mother. So it was with great difficulty mother came and located where I was and took me away. When teacher had asked 'isn't that your 'Amma?' I had said 'no'.
