Unusual golden wedding anniversary in Anuradhapura

To commemorate 50 years of married life ....elderly couple with 4 children and grandchildren ....once again enters into wedlock!

A married couple who had spent a successful married life 50 years ago once again entered into wedlock with related traditions last morning (8) at St. Joseph's Asana Dev Medura situated in Anuradhapura Kade 50. By  this time they have become the grandfather and grandmother of 7 nephews and nieces. They have mentioned that they have thought of getting married once more in this manner in order to 'refresh' their romance.  Mr. Harin Fernando, a former Town Planning Architect now aged 71 years and his wife, Mrs. Rita after completing 50 years of wedded life thus renewed their marriage once more.
Mr. D.B. Fernando has worked as the Architect as creator of the Old City and the New City of Anuradhapura. He had worked as the Planning Architect of Lands at the Anuradhapura District Office from the year 1975 and subsequently had retired. 

His elder sister who attended the wedding ceremony when they had got married in the year 1964 participated in this marriage ceremony too while the parents including a number of relatives by this time are deceased.

The sons and daughters of the old couple, Krishantha, Jude, Roshini and Shyama attended this wedding ceremony of their father and mother. The wedding was conducted under the normal traditions at St. Joseph's Asana Dev Medura in Anuradhapura after which a lunch was held at Cresten Park Hotel down Godage Mawatha in Anuradhapura for their closest relatives and about 200 other friends and associates.
