A news story that an English teacher from a leading girls' school in Sri Lanka participated in an international fashion competition held in Malaysia wearing a bikini, and that a group from the same school had requested the principal to take disciplinary action against her, circulated widely on social media in recent days. These posts succeeded in drawing the attention of various parties, stating that such behavior was not suitable for the teaching profession.

However, investigations have confirmed that this news story is completely false and misleading. The person appearing in the relevant photographs is not a Sri Lankan or of Sri Lankan origin, but a citizen of Guatemala, a Central American country. She, named Jeyme Stefany, participated in the "Monja Blanca" beauty pageant held in Guatemala.

Many local social media pages as well as several popular individuals shared this misleading information without verification. As a result, it appears that many people presented various opinions based on a false news story until the true information was revealed.
