Few health problems with the babies
a quintuplet birth has taken place today at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital. It is a mother from Werellagama area in Kandy who has given birth to these babies. It is also understood that some of the babies are faced with a few health problems.
Among these quintuplets are 4 baby boys and one baby girl. 36 year old Thanuja Hedeniya, the mother of the quintuplets is a Lawyer by profession.
Consultant Gynaecologist, Dr. Sisira Ranraja of Peradeniya Teaching Hospital has rendered support in this birth.
Dr. Jayabandu Herath, Director of the Hospital said that one baby of the 5 babies possess a health problem being underweight while 3 babies are being given artificial respiration.
He also said that these 5 babies were delivered within a space of four and a half months; that is, 30 weeks and that by now they are kept in the ICU of the infant section of premature babies.
Before this, on October 15th in the year 2012 a delivery of quintuplets was recorded at Kandy Teaching Hospital of a mother from Kegalle.
It is our wish that all the previously mentioned 5 babies would come back to normal.
