in police custody !!!

A case is reported from Galewela area where a young man of 19 years of age was cordoned for having released nude photos to the internet of a girl of 24 years with whom he had been having a love affair for a period of 10 months and whom he had come to know across the facebook which act was intended with the motive of avenging the girl concerned.

The incident in brief is as follows:
This young boy who came across an image of a girl who attracted his attention through facebook when engaged in chatting with friends had made a cordial invitation to this girl.

The said girl was an employee of a government firm while the boy concerned was out of employment.

After this affair had started, the boy ... unaware of the girl's parents had met her on the sly in her house from time to time and had even here and there together.

The boy had clicked nude photos of the girl at places where they had met secretly, saying, "I am taking these photos to remember you".

Whatever it is, after time passed by, ideas of this elderly girl did not click with that of this boy who actually was tender in age. One fine day, after an argue that ensued between the two of them, the girl made a final decision to put a stop to this affair. The boy who however did not agree to her decision. The boy who then went into a temper had decided to release the girl's nude photos in his possession to the internet as a matter of revenge.

The girl who came about this plan subsequently made a complaint to Galewela police on November 22nd last year against the boy saying that the boy was attempting to destroy her character. But since she was not aware of the boy's address for legal action to be taken, the police found some difficulty in making investigations. After the police forwarded the allegation to courts, they were instructed to secure the boy's address across the data available in his mobile phone. In a few days, after inquiries by the police, they were able to track the young man's address from the relevant telecommunication companies under instructions by courts.

As such, though Galewela police sent a message to Eheliyagoda police in the area where the boy was resident in order to make investigations on the complaint, it is learnt that he had not turned up. Instead, what he had resorted to was to threaten the girl with death threats.

At this point when the girl made another visit to the police to inform them about the latest situation. The police in turn suggested a strategy to her ... which was to make a proposal of love through her again to the boy.

Consequently the girl made a proposal to the boy to resume the broken affair and later gone to Kurunegala town on the 18th according to instructions issued to her by the police and as requested by the boy. Two police officers in civil clothing were hovering in the vicinity of the girl.

When the girl was in the process of chatting to the boy, he had stopped a three-wheeler trying to take the girl away when the police officers in civil clothes intervened and got hold of the boy.

The suspect who was thus taken into custody was produced before Dambulla Magistrate Mr. Sanjeewa Ramyakumara and was later released on bail. The next hearing is scheduled for the following Tuesday.

Galewela police are conducting further inquiry on this matter.
