New House Mahinda occupies after a rennovation costing 40 million!

The luxury house which had been occupied down Wijerama Mawatha in Colombo 7 for over a period of 6 months by Mr. Maithripala Sirisena after he assumed the position of President has been renovated fully at a cost of over Rs. 40 million and has
been handed over to former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa and he is now residing there. The said house has thus been given to him on the request Mahinda Rajapaksa has made from President Maithripala Sirisena for the purpose to provide a house in the environs of Colombo.

Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa had though made a request to provide the house down Stanmore Crescent in Colombo 7 for him where former Secretary of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was living; already since Minister Rajitha Senaratna is living there, the request was rejected, under which circumstances the above mentioned house has been given. Though Maithri had consented to hand over the President's house where he had been living down Wijerama Mawatha, Mahinda had said that it did not provide facilities and had said that he would agree to go into occupation there if it is totally renovated. It was under such conditions that this house was renovated during recent times for an expenditure of 40 million.

As such, Mahinda had vacated the house in Mirihana and had come into occupation at the house in Wijerama Mawatha. Some photos of the period when the house was under renovation and how it appears from the forefront now is seen here
