POLICE MEDIA SPOKESMAN S.P. AJITH ROHANA MAKES A STATEMENT TO STATE TELEVISION:

Last Friday the leader of the J.V.P. rebel group leader or the leader of the Front Line Socialist party (FSP) was found to have been abducted and had disappeared along with another activist Dimuth Attygalle.
However it is learnt from informed sources that he had been released by the abductors safely and he had reported to complain about the incident to the officers at the Dematagoda Police Station at 10 p.m last night. It is learnt that he had summoned the officials of the Australian Embassy as he is a permanent resident of Australia.
As he wanted to go back to Australia, he had been escorted to the BIA by the officials of the Australian Embassy as well our Police personnel. He had already made his travel arrangements earlier and had taken a flight to Kuala Lumpur on a Mayasian Airline flight at 7.40 a.m this morning to get a connecting flight to Australia.
It is learnt that he was preparing for a meeting of the Front Line Socialist Party at 9 ‘O’ clock yesterday before which time he was kidnapped. After his abduction his family members had organised a press briefing and they had spoken at the meeting in tears about his disappearance at a very crucial time.
The Secretary to the Defence had disclosed that he was a permanent resident of Australia and he was named as a much wanted person as he had changed his name to read as Kumar Mudalge.
In the meantime it was very suddenly that Kumar Gunaratnam emerged at the Dematagoda Police Station. As said earlier he had made his travel arrangements prior to his abduction. When the story spread like wild fire it was unbelievable for many as he was released just before he was to depart from Sri Lanka. It was believed to be like a part of an acting incident and the Authorities too were puzzled.
It is indeed very hard to believe that why the Police did not question him about Dimuthu Attygalle who was also kidnapped along with him by the abductors.
This incident as described by the Police Media Spokesman S.P Ajith Rohana over our National TV channel is shown in the video BELOW:
