Dan Priyasad, the convener of the Sinhala National Movement, was arrested at Katunayake Airport early this morning (11) on a warrant issued by the Nikaweratiya Police.
He was taken into custody by officers of the Airport Immigration and Emigration Department upon his arrival from Dubai, following a court-imposed travel ban.
Priyasad had been named as the sixth defendant in the case related to the assault on a peaceful protest at Galle Face, Colombo, on May 9, 2022. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for the proceedings.
