SHIHAN SPEAKS ABOUT HIS BRIDE, GESHNI

“Wedding was taken so suddenly because my mother wanted to go to Australia.
I didn’t reveal my relationship because we thought that the outsiders would create obstacles.
She was my first love. We started our relationship when I did my Advanced levels.”

Shihan Mihiranga who got married last week has given an interview to the Sunday “Lankadeepa” has told about the reason for his sudden marriage and about his bride.
Questions asked and his Answers given are furnished below:
Shihan, why this sudden marriage?
My father works abroad. My sister is living in Australia after her marriage. My mother wanted to go to my sister’s place in Australia. Due to all these reasons both parties decided to take the wedding in a hurry as my Mother had to leave on the 27th of last month. So we organized it within a short time. Because we didn’t have much time we couldn’t organize a big ceremony. Only the relatives of the two parties participated to the Mass and the other customs held at the church.

Did you get to know her with Superstar?
This was at a time when I didn’t even know about Super Star. That was my first love. I got to know her when I was schooling and when I was about to finish A/Ls. She is four years younger to me. What is meaningful is the love I experienced before I got famous. Our family and Geshni’s family are two simple families. She has an elder brother and I have an elder sister.

What is her occupation?
She worked in a bank. She got resigned because I didn’t like it.

Many rumours spread after you got famous. How did she tolerate those?
That was the main reason for me to marry her. When there were such rumours, she never pressurized me. She had a good understanding about my profession. Because of that we decided that we will not let our relationship known to outsiders. Sometimes, had we announced about it,

outsiders would have tried to create problems for us?
Isn’t this sudden marriage a problem to you?
It doesn’t affect my image at all. My fans who loved my songs would continue to love them and remain so perhaps forever. Others who had expectations beyond will disappear. That is the nature in life.

Why did you get this close to her?
She possesses a quiet simple character. She is very clean and systematic just like me. I am also a very simple person. I am a down to earth person. I do not pressurize her and rule her. There’s nothing to expect from her beyond these factors.

What is her best quality?
She is very pure and very neat. So is I. So two of us match very well.

Can’t she sing?
She is clever at dancing.

Did you look for her assets?
Not at all, we are simple families. Thanks to the Arts field, I have become a bit stable. We have what our parents earned for us. She liked me when I was just playing for a band. That is a great quality.

Haven’t you all fought at all?
We have fought many times. It takes some time for my anger to fade away. She cools down much faster.

We heard that you sang a song for her?
“Clementina” song in the album “Dreams of Shihan” was sung for her. Yet it was done before “Sirasa Super Star”.
