Sarath Fonseka’s appeal against the verdict thrown away without hearing:
The verdict to imprison Sarath fonseka for a further period of 30 months was challenged by an appeal to reconsider the verdict delivered via an appeal was dismissed by the appeal court without examination.
Sarath Fonseka had disclosed that this verdict was ‘partial’. However it is learnt that the verdict delivered was the correct one it was confirmed.
Today morning groups of people made demonstrations in the Hulftsdorp court areas demonstrated in slogans that the soldiers who sacrificed for the war were betrayed by the former Commander and he should not be given pardon. Some had carried banners with wordings as pride and luck of Mahinda Rajapaksa won us the war.
There were supporters of the Sarath Fonseka faction who shouted while he was leaving saying ‘Our future President’ it is reported.
