Kidnapping of two babies, from a Mother by deploying underworld and rowdy tactics.
While an attractive Mother was living with her two children in a residence at Mirihana, the two little kids were kidnapped by a gang showing dangerous weapons and had fled in a van. She through sheer agony not only complained to the Mihihana Police but also brought it to knowledge of several print and electronic media in an attempt to find her children.
A lot of articles were published in the week end newspapers about this incident. It is reliably learnt that she had separated from her husband and had lived separately. After the wide publicity the husband had surrendered to the Mihirana Police station with the two children. The Mother is a native of Padukka and by profession is a teacher in an International school who had got married after a love affair. Her husband is a native of Mahiyanganaya.
It is learnt that soon after her marriage, troubles and conflicts had begun presumably owing to family interferences. They had then decided to go to England and live. When she became pregnant they had decided to come back to Sri Lanka. The problems that had got resolved had again begun to erupt on their return. This had occurred after meeting the husband’s parents.
It was only after 10 days that the husband had surrendered to the Mirihana Police station with the two small kids, where he was arrested after taking the two children to the possession of the Police.
The Mother’s side of the story as appeared in the ‘Rivira’ and ‘Island’ weekend papers are shown below:
