K.JAYATHILAKA PASSES AWAY

Demise of K Jayathilaka

The well known and popular author K.Jayathilaka who had contributed immensely to the Sinhala literature had passed away last night. He was 85 years old at the time of his demise.
His contribution to the development of Sinhala story books had been enormous particularly from the beginning of the 1960 decade. His book on ‘Charitha Thunak’ was later made into a Tele-drama production as its theme story.
Some of the titles of his more famous books were ‘Oralosuwa’,Iruna Balala’, ‘Rajapaksa Walauwa’,’Mahallekuge Prema Kathawa’ etc. Some of his books were influenced by the Chinese and Russian cultures.
The funeral arrangements would be notified later.
