SUJEEWA SENASINGHE ON OPPOSITION LEADERS’ CHAIR

Sujeewa Senasinghe sits on Opposition Leader’s seat

Today during Parliamentary proceedings a very special incident had taken place. Member of Parliament Sujeewa Senasinghe a relatively a novice M.P. had sat on the Opposition Leader’s special seat in Parliament. This was of course not because he was not suddenly appointed as the new leader of Opposition. M.P Sujeewa Senasinghe had been on Ranil Wickramasinghe’s fraction in the past when there were severe conflicts. It is learnt that this occurrence had happened knowingly or unknowingly.
What really had transpired is that when M.P. Sujeewa Senasinghe has had some discussion with Senior M.P Joseph Micheal Perera who’s seat was adjoining to that of the opposition leader’s chair he had accidently or perhaps unknowingly sat on the seat of the Opposition leader as the discussion was a prolonged one.The senior M.P politely had requested him to get out of the seat, which arose laughter in the house.
A similar incident is also reported about 1 ½ year’s back when Champika Ranawaka had accidently sat on Nimal Siripala’s seat also unknowingly and by accident.
The seats of the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition are special seats and sitting on them by any other person in not in accordance with the Parliament traditions.
However whatever the facts are Sujeewa Senasinghe had recorded some audio’s of the opposition leader and had handed over to a very popular media TV channel. The extracts from this audio could be heard from HERE:
