Census reveals that Sri Lanka has 5879 elephant population
It was only a while ago (11.05a.m) that according to the latest census of elephant population carried out by the wild life department officials that if had revealed the Sri Lanka’s elephant population is 5879.
Among this number 122 were with tusks, while 1108 were baby elephants.
The most number of elephants were found to live in the Mahaweli wild life region. They accounted for 1751 of this total number of elephants.
