High Court Judge issues Open Warrant, to arrest OIC of Crime Prevention Unit of Piliyandala Police station:
High Court Judge of Hulftsdorp Magistrate Courts had ordered to issue an open warrant to apprehend C.D.Wanniarachchi,the OIC of the Crime Prevention Unit of the Pilyandala Police station. The reason for this is that he had accepted a bribe of Rs 10,000/-from a ‘ganja’ mudalali to carry on his illegal business on the sly.
The OIC had allowed him to carry on his business, on the understanding that he be given a bribe of Rs 10,000/- He had wanted an advance of Rs 5,000/- to be paid initially together with a bribe of Rs 10,000/- .He had agreed to accept the money at Udamaduwa area in Piliyandala. At the time of accepting the bribe he had noticed a person standing nearby. As he was supposed to be an officer from the bribery department the OIC had bolted on his motor cycle. The bribery officer had also followed him but could not apprehend him. Now he is absconding and no one appears to know of his whereabouts. When this was explained to the High Courts, the Judge ordered an open warrant to arrest him.
