A fifty-year-old woman, who falsely impersonated an Ayurvedic doctor and a beautician, obtained one crore and one lakh rupees from two individuals and issued dishonored cheques, has been arrested by the Horana Special Crime Investigation Unit. The suspect, a resident of the Horana area, even wore a stethoscope to portray herself as a real doctor and treated patients by displaying fake medical certificates, police investigations revealed.

The woman misled a resident of Gurugoda, Horana, stating the need to purchase Ayurvedic medicines and cosmetic products, and obtained eighty-six lakh rupees. Although the cheques issued to settle this amount were presented to the bank, it was revealed that there were insufficient funds in the relevant accounts. Despite repeated requests for the money, she failed to return it, leading the victim to file a complaint with the police.

In addition, she similarly obtained fifteen lakh rupees from another individual residing in Pahala Getahetta, Eheliyagoda, claiming to purchase Ayurvedic medicines and cosmetic products. The cheques issued by her for this amount were also dishonored by the bank, and subsequent attempts to recover the money failed, leading this individual to also file a complaint with the Horana Special Crime Investigation Unit.
