Colombo Chief Magistrate Mr. Asanga Bodaragama has issued an order preventing four individuals, including famous motor racing champion Dilantha Malagamuwa, who are accused of being involved in a racket of preparing fraudulent documents and selling a land located in Barnes Place, Colombo, valued at over 250 million rupees, from traveling abroad.

Foreign travel has been banned for Dilantha Malagamuwa, Shantha Vithana Gamage, Desmond Amarasinghe, and Saman Jayaweera. The court issued this order after considering the facts presented by the Criminal Investigation Department, stating that if the suspects, who are currently evading court, leave the country, it could obstruct the ongoing investigations.

The Criminal Investigation Department stated that the land in question had been sold for one billion rupees using forged deeds, and informed the court that information has been revealed that Dilantha Malagamuwa received 14 vehicles instead of the 500 million rupees he was supposed to receive from that transaction.

Expanding investigations related to this incident, the Magistrate also took steps to order the managers of 89 banks and financial institutions to provide reports related to the suspects' bank accounts.

Lawyer Sampath Jayawardena, appearing for Dilantha Malagamuwa, stated to the court that his client has not evaded the police, and that he was receiving treatment for a heart condition and would make a statement in the future. Lawyers appearing for the other suspects also stated that their clients are ready to give statements.

Considering the facts presented, the Chief Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to submit a report on the progress of these investigations to the court on October 29th.
