
A police constable, accused of consuming alcohol and damaging property at Royal College, Colombo, while on security duty where G.C.E. Advanced Level examination papers were stored, has been interdicted. The officer who was interdicted was attached to the Kurunduwatta Police Station.
The police constable in question had been deployed for security duties at the college premises since August 15th. During that duty period, specifically on August 19th, police investigations revealed that he had consumed alcohol with two individuals from the Department of Education and caused damage to the college property.
The Colombo South Assistant Superintendent of Police office states that the interdiction of the constable's duties, related to this incident, has been effective since day before yesterday (10).
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out under the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Lucien Sooriyabandara, who is in charge of the Colombo South Division.
