He was 48 years old at the time of his death and passed away while receiving treatment at Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital due to an illness he had been suffering from for some time.

Rukman Asitha, who left his unique mark in the professional singing field, was an extraordinary artist who earned the high respect and love of a special fan base, especially on the outdoor concert stages of this country. He contributed to live performances with leading local music bands such as Sahara Flash, Flamingos, and Sanidhapa, consistently delighting the hearts of his fans. Rukman Asitha, who remained in the music industry for a long time, also reached his fans through his latest solo song titled "Wathawak," released in 2026. Additionally, songs he sang in 2025 such as "Mathakayaka Wali," "Boru Chodana," as well as creations like "Hamadama Awath," "Jeewithe Ape," "Ekwemu," "Thahanamk Na" (Remix), "Ridawala Hera Giyath," "Ukula Salana," "Amma," and "Sulanga Wage Awidin" became extremely popular among fans.
