The Saudi Ministry of Energy announced that 14 people have died in a helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia. The accident occurred on Sunday at around 6:00 AM local time, and all those on board the aircraft died.
All those who died were Saudi nationals, and the cause of the accident has not yet been revealed. This helicopter belonged to 'Aramco', the world's largest oil company, in which the Saudi government holds a majority stake. Recently, Aramco had to exert considerable effort due to disruptions in oil supply and rising prices caused by the Iran war. This accident occurred against the backdrop of the company successfully transferring several of its oil export operations to a pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which has been obstructed due to the war.Meanwhile, local authorities say that 11 people have died after a small civilian aircraft carrying parachutists crashed in Tomblaine, eastern France. Local officials confirm that among the deceased are the pilot and 10 passengers, with the passengers including five students and five instructors. Thierry Peché, president of the local nursing association, stated that half of the deceased parachutists were independent nurses. Local media reports that the aircraft, used by a parachute training school, crashed immediately after taking off from Nancy-Essey Airport. Relatives of the deceased were also present at the airport at the time of the accident.
The accident occurred in a densely populated area near a shopping complex and a residential complex, with the aircraft almost vertically crashing to the ground near the airport. However, local chief official Yves Séguy stated that no external individuals in the vicinity, other than the passengers, were injured in the incident, adding that it was fortunate there were no other victims. French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot and Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez are traveling to the scene of the accident, calling the incident a "terrible tragedy." Due to the current situation, police are strongly urging the public to avoid the area around the airport.
