Kurunduwatta Police has launched a wide investigation to find two sixteen-year-old girls who went missing while attending a Vesak devotional song program held on the night of the 30th at the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress premises located on Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07. Information has been reported to the police that these two girls, who were being held at a girls' child development center in the Beruwala area, secretly escaped on that night.

The chief matron of the relevant child development center has officially lodged a complaint with the Kurunduwatta Police regarding this disappearance, and she is a resident of Puwakdandawa, Beliatta. Police sources also state that the said matron has been summoned to the Kurunduwatta Police today (the 2nd) with the aim of recording a further statement regarding the escape of the two girls.

However, investigations have revealed that the personal addresses of the missing girls have not yet been provided to the police by the Probation Department. For this reason, senior police officers have already taken steps to send photographs and information of the girls to all police stations island-wide to expand the search operations for them.

Information from the ongoing investigations into these girls, who have not yet been found, is scheduled to be reported to the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. Further legal proceedings and investigations regarding this disappearance are being carried out under the direct instructions of Chief Police Inspector Tilak Kumara Bandara, the OIC of Kurunduwatta Police.
