Prison officials have discovered a stock of Ice (methamphetamine) and heroin drugs cleverly concealed within a chicken curry in a rice parcel brought for an inmate held at the Kalutara Remand Prison. The person who brought these illegal substances was taken into custody the day before yesterday after being suspected by prison officials.
A senior official at Kalutara Prison stated that 1000 milligrams of Ice (methamphetamine) and 4800 milligrams of heroin were found in the said meat curry. The suspect arrested in this manner has been identified as a resident of Kalutara South.
The prison official further revealed that the arrested suspect stated that this stock of drugs was brought to be handed over to an inmate who is currently in remand custody, having been previously arrested by the police on charges of possessing Ice (methamphetamine) and produced before the court.
However, prison officials suspect that the suspect might have attempted to hand over these drugs to the inmate with the intention of selling them inside the prison. Prison officials are conducting extensive investigations into the incident, involving both the suspect and the inmate currently in prison.
